Skincare & Beauty Products That Have Changed The Game

If you still have flawless skin during this pandemic, then you deserve some praise! Girl! I dunno about you, but the past few months have been rough on my skin. I mean ROUGH. Typically I only have acne during that time of the month, but I started noticing frequent breakouts that came out of nowhere. Where was this disrespectful acne coming from?

Well, I have to say it started right around the time we started wearing masks. I didn’t figure it out at first, but this is what completely flared up my skin. Not cool face mask….not cool. As you know, I’ve been working on practicing better skincare, and taking time to figure out the best products for my sensitive skin. I’ll admit – I’ve been a bit lazy about skincare in the past! However nowadays, I’m doing everything I can to protect my melanin skin.

Thanks to YouTube and beauty gurus out there, I’ve learned a thing or two about the ways to properly cleanse and moisturize your face. Here’s what I learned:

  • Step 1 – Cleanser
  • Step 2 – Toner
  • Step 3 – Serum
  • Step 4 – Eye Care
  • Step 5 – Moisturizer
  • Step 6 – Spot Treatment
  • Step 7 – Sunscreen

Also, be sure to clean your face with a cleanser right after you take off your mask!

Now for the products that I am absolutely LOVING right now.

First up is Murad Skincare – girl! I heard about their products through a few friends, and all were highly recommended. I must say, I am not disappointed. I am obsessssssed with Murad. I purchased their trial kit just to test it out, and I have seen a REAL improvement in my skin. My breakouts started to fade, and I slowly became more confident in my natural skin. This kit included the:

  • Clarifying Cleanser
  • Outsmart Acne Clarifying Treatment
  • Oil Pore Control Mattifier Broad Spectrum SPF 45

The cleanser goes on so smooth, and doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. I use these 3 products for my morning routine – but only use the acne treatment every other day. I have SUPER sensitive skin, so I take things slow lol.

The sunscreen is an absolute must, especially since the sun hits hard in the summer. And yes, black people DO wear sunscreen because we also have skin! lol….had to put that out there because some people ask my why I wear SC.

After I cleanse, treat, and screen protect my skin, I follow up with the Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer. When it comes to oils, I swear by coconut and Jamaican castor oil. You can never go wrong with either of these. I use oil all over my body except my face. And trust me girl – coconut oil does wonders for your skin!

At night I use another one of my faves – Magic black soap from True Moringa. The BEST. Made with raw shea and moringa oil, this cleanser gently exfoliatiates and lathers my skin – and it smells so good! I love it. I apply and wash my face for about 45 seconds, then rinse. You can feel the oils working magic on your face. I highly recommend you try the black soap, Moringa mist, and the Moringa moisturizer. Use my code NKAY15 for 10% off your order, and free shipping!

And lastly, I use the Sephora eye makeup remover. Its waterproof and works really well on my skin. I never paid much attention to eye care as part of my routine, but I’m so glad I do now. This stuff is amazing.

So ya girl has switched to natural deodorant, and I have no regrets okuurrr! I’ve been using a brand called Schmidt’s, and typically go for the rose & vanilla, or lavender scent. The ingredients are free of aluminum salts, propylene glycol, and phthalates. This deodorant does tend to make the skin on my underarms a bit flaky, so I apply coconut oil to the area at night. Works like a charm, and I smell like a beautiful flower!

I definitely have to add a few more products into my skincare routine, but so far these have been helping. The most important thing is that I see an improvement in my skin, and that’s all that matters!

Thanks so much for reading babe, I appreciate you stopping by. All my love,
