How To Hit Your Reset Button

It’s the first post of 2021, and I’m so grateful you continue to drop by. What would I be without you?

t goes without saying that 2020 was a challenging year to say the least, so I don’t have to say much about that. The most important thing is that we made it to a new chapter, and we hold love in our hearts to anyone who has lost a friend or family member in 2020.

This year, I decided to do things differently. My New Year began with a fast. I haven’t fasted in over two years, so the thought of “giving something up” was a bit intimidating to me. I fasted in the traditional sense – ate 2 small meals a day which mostly consisted of oatmeal. But this fast was more about cleansing my spirit. I stayed away from social media, wine, and any other distractions. My goal was to gain three things – clarity, direction and strength.

Last year was HARD. I mean you already know this. But I went through a lot – everything from toxic relationships / friendships, to struggling with weight gain. That quarantine weight was sittin’ heavy! Add that up with the pandemic, the BLM movement,, and overall high levels of anxiety – 2020 was tough.

So what exactly did I do during my fast?

  • daily meditation
  • daily prayer
  • Journaling
  • reading

My favorite and only meditation app that I use is Insight Timer. Its the absolute best. You can use it for free or pay an annual subscription to use all its features. Right now they’re doing a 31 day mindfulness meditation challenge – so hop on it!

I want to share a few ways that you can reset your mind and body whenever you need to. Some of these may be familiar to you!

  • Drink warm lemon water first thing in the morning
  • Use a tongue scraper in the morning
  • Jade roller to massage your skin – helps with circulation
  • Treat yo skin! I love using a dry brush before a shower. It’s the BEST
  • Get some fresh air – take a walk or workout outside
  • Up your fruit and veggie intake
  • Give your desk space a makeover
  • Put your phone on “do not disturb” for 30 minutes everyday
  • Set weekly goals
  • Meditate / pray
  • Exercise
  • Facetime your best friend
  • Buy a plant LOL
  • Treat yourself to an at home facial

Today and everyday, I am sending you all of the positive vibes! Remember to hit that reset button every now and then. It’s so important to prioritize your mental health. As always, thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next week xx
