Blogging as a business takes a LOT of hard work. Influencer Marketing is a REAL, lucrative business. Here’s a fact that might shock you – Influencer Marketing is on track to become a $15 billion dollar industry by 2022! And it has NO plans of slowing down. Think about that for a second. Gone are the days where businesses pay advertising companies to run ads for their products. It’s officially the new age – Bloggers & Influencers ARE infinitely valuable in the marketing industry. There is now a focus on micro and nano Influencers. More brands are starting to see the value of smaller influencers who have high engagement. Numbers don’t always matter, whereas in the past you needed at least 10K followers in order to get brand deals. Victory to all my micro Influencers!
So let’s talk about the ways in which you can START your blog NOW, and grow your business if you want to be a successful Influencer.
Pick a niche and stick to it – this is so important bebb. Figure out a niche and stick with it, otherwise your audience and readers get confused. When I first started blogging, my first blog was all about style, transformed into a travel blog, then went back to fashion and lifestyle. It’s ok (and actually a good thing) if your brand changes and develops over time. I started to learn who my real audience was. But make sure that once you’ve found your niche, you stick with it! If you try to serve everybody, you’ll end up serving NOBODY. The best way to choose your niche is to decide these 2 things:
- Who is my target audience?
- What problem do they need help solving, and HOW can I help solve their problem?
For example, my target audience for my business is new fashion & lifestyle bloggers who need help building their brand, while my target audience for my blog is women and men between the ages of 18-40 with mid-range incomes who love all things fashion. I’m able to reach out to new bloggers and help build their brand, while also serving my main audience.
Treat your blog like your business – If you opened up a boutique with the intention to sell your products, make money, and grow into a successful entrepreneur, then why would you not have those same goals as a full-time blogger? If you treat your blog like a hobby, then that’s exactly what it will be. But if you treat your blog like a business, then it WILL become a real business. Wake up early everyday. Make a schedule. Set weekly goals. Get yourself a Media kit. Create some good ass content. And so on…..once you get serious and focused on your blog, your blog will literally start working for you.
Keep up with the latest trends – Do you have a Tik Tok account? Let me be fully transparent here, I was not a fan of Tik Tok when it first came out. I played around with it a bit, but it got to a point where the content became overwhelming. Howeva…..many brands that you might collab with require you to post on Tik Tok. So whether you like it or not – it’s a trend! Technology and social media is moving in the direction of visual content. Posting a pic on Instagram used to be good enough, but nowadays you gotta get visual AF. Do I lovvvvvve Tik Tok, not particularly. BUT, is it a great way to grow my following, build my brand, and create visual engaging content? YES. So it’s up to me to put my personal social media preferences aside, and utilize whichever platform will help my business. Again, when you’re in the business of serving others – it’s not about you – it’s about THEM. Also note – Instagram Reels & YouTube are two other ways to share your visual content.
I will share more tips in a future blog post about more ways to kill it as a Micro Influencer. If you need help getting started with your blog, reach out to me here. And remember, it’s never too late to start. The steps you take right now can set you up for success 6 months from now!
Before I go, I want to share with you my review of these products I received from Influenster and Beauty Blender. I received their liquid whip long wear foundation in the color “BOUNCE” and the setting powder in the color “CHOCOLATE” I actually liked both shades. The foundation goes on very smooth. I was actually impressed with both of them. The foundation was definitely a better match in terms of the shade that best matched my skin – but it the powder still worked. I have always love Beauty Blender, and do think they have some really great products. I also received a super cute green blending brush, which is literally amazing. Obsessed xx
As always, thank you so much for reading and stopping by. You mean the world to me : ) xo
