I saw a quote on Pinterest that said “Don’t spend another year doing the same shit – and I couldn’t resonate with that more.
Happy 2022 Stylists!
I’ve had so many mixed emotions as I walked into the new year. Of course, the past two years were “alot,” so finding the positive attitude we all needed for 2022 hasn’t been easy. But…I found it ; ) I told myself that this is the last year I dim my light.
The glow up for 2022 is real – and these are the ways I’m GLOWING UP this year:
Improving my health – Do I always make the best decisions when it comes to the food I consume and the exercise I do/don’t do? lol. No. BUT, as I get older I realize the importance of maintaining a healthier diet. I’ve done a decent job so far, but I can do better. I’m still a vegetarian / pescatarian, which hasn’t changed, but I’m also doing simple things like drinking more water, daily yoga/body stretching, and limiting my alcohol intake. Yanno, cocktails just don’t do it for me like they used to. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a nice margarita, but there’s a time and place for it. I’d rather drink wine or have a sparkling glass of rose. It hits different.
Putting my career first – this is the absolute most important thing for me to work on. Gone are the days where I don’t push myself hard enough, or doubt my capabilities. I’ve done a pretty good job in the fashion industry so far, but I also feel like I’ve neglected my music. It’s been three years since I’ve recorded or performed on stage, and I miss it so much. So girl, she BACK. One of the things I have learned too, is that when you focus more on you and your career, you lose a lot people. Sometimes, your friends won’t understand your hustle, and they take your absence personal. That’s ok though, because the way I see it – its YOUR life. YOUR job. YOUR money.
Saying NO – In the past I’ve been too accommodating toward others. I let certain things slide, I say “it’s ok” when it’s really not, and I give people too many chances. Despite my “don’t play with me bitch,” sassy attitude, I am a kind-hearted person. Its a Pisces thing! I love being there for others, helping people, and being their shoulder to cry on, but I’m not a pushover. And girl, so many people take advantage of my kindness. But this year, I just be saying, “No!”
Giving myself weekly check-ins – I started doing this thing where I sit down, write in my notebook, and literally write down how my week was. What were my highs? Lows? What moves did I make to get one step closer to my goals? Whom did I contact to help me with my project? You get the idea. I do this because it helps me stay on track. I tend to get lost in outer space haha, so these check-in’s have helped so much. This is different than having a planner or a journal – it’s a way to asses and track my personal growth and career progress. I’m obsessed with it.
Saving cash money – On period! I need to get better at saving, and making MORE money. In the past I did not handle my finances well haha, so this year, I’ve changed that mindset. I am not “broke,” I am not “struggling.” I am RICH. Money solves a lot of problems, and it makes me personally feel more secure in my day to day life. Every Sunday I update my financial spreadsheet, which shows me what I spent, where I spent it, and my monthly subscriptions etc. It’s a game changer! Saving is so important, especially as a woman living in LA. Life is not cheap out here!
I hope this year is your glow up year too, babe. Set your standards high. Remember that no one, or nothing can stop you from accomplishing your goals.
Thank you SO much for reading, see you soon : ) xoxo
