work the romper

Patterns are a unique repeated design that can only be defined as ‘beautiful.’ I used to never wear patterns or bright colors – but of course that all changed the moment I discovered African fabrics. I remember coming back from Ghana and thought to myself, “Geez everybody dresses so dull compared to the vibrant clothing I saw in Africa!” Its almost as if our clothes seemed so boring. But summer has a way of bringing out the ‘funk’ in everyone’s swag. Its the perfect season (and my favorite season!)

A few weeks ago I sent in an order to my team in Ghana and decided to add an extra design for myself. What’s funny about this outfit is that I never (ever) wear any red haha. I don’t even own a red shirt. It has always been a color I hated….it’s so bad I won’t even buy anything red. Weird or what?! But this print was very unique for me, and it was do-able since it also had dark blue. This design is a romper with two big side pockets, an elastic waist, and mid-length sleeves. I think my favorite part of this outfit are the sleeves. It adds more edge to the outfit, and its very comfortable. Who doesn’t like comfort in this hot weather? I also am a fan of pockets – mainly because I feel awkward if I don’t have a place to put my hands when I’m standing lol. I can’t be the only one who does that, right?

Styling details:

Heels – I sometimes think I was born in heels! I love shoes and I decided to rock Cape Robbin olive green shoes to add some contrast to the outfit. I’m not a fan of matchy-matchy. In fact, always try to rock a pop of color in your outfit – not everything has to match.

Accessories – gold and silver bracelets from H&M

Gorgeous romper and your shoes are fabulous! The colors and pattern are so striking. And I think red by itself would look amazing on you! You should try it…it may change your opinion about the color! Really great look. I just discovered your blog in my search for fellow upstate NY bloggers. I seem to be the only one in the Watertown/Fort Drum area, but Buffalo is close enough, I suppose, to find a local community of bloggers with great style! I look forward to reading more!

Thank you so much Shelbee! Red has always been a tough color for me to adapt to, but I might try to give it another chance lol. It's always nice to meet fellow bloggers. Although we are small, we have a great local community of bloggers in the area. I appreciate the connect and thanks for your comments and the follow!
